Finn is already a very loved baby. Marcia, Kate, Sally and a whole host of other women gathered to celebrate his impending arrival at Kate's lovely home. Sally made a beautiful yellow cake with lemon mousse frosting and raspberry filling. It was complimented by a baked brie with apples and walnuts from Amy, tasty veggies, and yet more cake from Barb, Kate's mom. It was a chocolaty concoction she bid on at a silent auction the night before. It was wonderful to hear the "mmmms" and "ooooohhhhs" as people gave cause to splurge.
Each person was given a ducky pin to wear. If another guest heard you say "baby", they took your ducky and added it to their collection. Michelle Griffin, careful with her tongue, managed to snag quite a few duckies and came out the victor. Each person estimated the circumference of my belly using toilet paper sheets...apparently some think I am very big. Joyce Blair hit it spot on at 14 sheets! We also guessed the flavor of a variety of baby foods.
James and I cozied up last night and looked at all of the beautiful gifts that Finn received. We grew teary on more than one occasion as we read the loving, inspirational, and affirming notes in the cards. We are so grateful for so much. Our hearts are full.
