It is incredible to think that a little over five weeks ago Finn was born and entered our home and family. So many parents have told us that his childhood will fly before our very eyes. How right they are. Already we have witnessed the dramatic change from a flaccid and oh-so-soft newborn to a hearty and strong (but still oh-so-soft) one-month-old. James and I have noticed some dramatic changes over the last couple of days. It is as though Finn has found himself. He is beginning to show a bit of a social smile - it's fleeting but for those of us that have watched his little smiles of the subconscious come and go, we are delighting in this new show of emotion. He has a lot to talk about. His body is so strong as shown in the way he holds his head up as we move around the house and the way he pushes his little legs into your lap to show you how tall he is when standing. Finn realized there are lots of ways to be happy, lots of arms besides his mom's that feel cozy and can even enjoy a little alone time when hanging out in his bouncy seat or cozy in his cradle. We spend most of our time alone at the house so I really enjoy that he is getting more and more interactive and beginning to find himself, and in doing so, his connection to the rest of us.
