Flu Bug

Finn had his first bout with some kind of bug. Monday night James, Gavin and I were getting ready to play Bananagrams (which, by the way, is a great game - for anyone that's always wanted to like Scrabble but just couldn't quite get into it, this game is for you - but I digress). I took Finn to change his diaper and had just finished wiping him off, turned to throw the wipe away, and heard a blasting sound similar to the one the last drop of dish detergent makes when getting forcefully squeezed out of the bottle's orifice. I looked back up to find everything in the direct line of fire from Finn's bottom splattered. He gave it another good shot which I was not expecting. Needless to say, I jumped back and called out an expletive which brought James and Gavin in to admire Finn's display. Once we cleaned up we concluded it was time to take a temperature. Discovering that Finnegan was a little on the warm side, James put in a call to his friend from work, Dr. Bob Onders. James describes Dr. Onders as having the temperament and heart of Jesus. This is good because most doctors probably would have been a bit agitated at our overzealous-first-time-mommy-and-daddy-concern and for being interrupted at home. On the contrary, Dr. Onders spoke to James with sincere care and reassured us that Finn's continued appetite was a good sign. James did point out that a lion could be gnawing on this kid's leg and he'd probably keep breastfeeding. But, all the same, Dr. Onders said he thought he'd hang-tough and gave us some guidelines to follow before giving Finn Infant Tylenol. Finn's fever crept up a bit last night so I gave his tiny body a tiny dose and we all slept for quite awhile. He's snoozing on the couch this morning. I think he's going to be just fine.
